Bernabeleva Carril del Rey is a red wine from Vinos de Madrid produced by the Bernabeleva winery. This wine is made using only Grenache grapes.
The grapes used to make this wine grow on vines that are around 75 years old. The vineyard plot is situated on a south facing slope that spans across 3 hectares, 2.5 of which are dedicated to the cultivation of Grenache grapes.
After the harvest has been carried out and the grapes have been transported to the winery, the grapes undergo maceration which lasts for 40 days, during which punching of the cap takes place in order to remove the lees and homogenise the wine. Bernabeleva Carril del Rey is then moved to wooden barrels where, on its lees, it undergoes malolactic fermentation.
Finally, Bernabeleva Carril del Rey is aged for 12 months in used French oak barrels with 600litre capacity. The wine is bottled without being clarified or stabilised, so it is possible to find some impurities in the wine.
Bernabeleva is one of the most important wineries in the Vinos de Madrid region, as is shown by the acclaim their wines have received from critics. Founded in 1923, Bernabeleva remains a family company that specialises in its work with the Grenache grape variety.
