About Batič Rebula
In medieval society, the monasteries were the true distributors of wine. As well as leading a contemplative life, monks were dedicated to cultivating vines. It is thanks to them that wine went from being a product reserved for the upper classes to being a popular drink that they introduced through Christian liturgy. In Slovenia, monasteries were also the main producers of wine. This tradition has been maintained to this day and reaches its peak with great wines like those produced by Batič. This winery originates in 1770 in Šempas, in the Vipava valley, in the west of Slovenia and, maintaining the legacy that the monks started five centuries ago, they have managed to make their wines known worldwide.
Batič Rebula is an example of these top quality productions. This is a white wine made from the native Rebula variety, cultivated with biodynamic methods and with official Demeter certification. Once the grapes have been harvested by hand, they are taken to the winery and fermented 70% in stainless steel tanks and 30% in Slovenian oak barrels. No external oenological products are used and each of the processes are carried out in line with the phases of the moon.
Batič Rebula is young, lively and deep. A wine that, thanks to the influence of the moon, beautifully showcases all the alpine, karstic and Mediterranean beauty that is found in the Vipava Valley. A ray of light!
2018 |
Batič Rebula 2018 is an aromatic white wine exuding powerful scents of ripe yellow fruits, mineral undertones, and hints of butter and vanilla. On the palate, it is robust, vivacious, and crisp. A wine of vitality and profound character, with mature tannins and a subtly sweet finish. |
