Ars Collecta Josep Raventós Gran Reserva

A tribute is an act or series of acts held in honour of someone or something. However, the reasons behind a tribute vary, as does the format. A tribute can be individual or collective, with both living and deceased people honoured. The Ars Collecta range by Cavas Codorníu is a collection of cavas released in honour of Josep Raventós, who was responsible for making the first bottle of cava in 1872. A sparkling wine created by copying the French production method known as champennoise or traditional but using the Penedès varieties of Macabeo, Xarel·lo and Parellada. It was so successful that, almost five centuries later, this winery in the municipality of Sant Sadurní D'Anoia, has become a prestigious business with a significant international reputation with distributors, wineries and vineyards in several countries.

As the winery’s most exclusive collection, Codorníu Ars Collecta (meaning “art collection”) includes limited edition cavas that reflect the oenological legacy of more than five centuries. Among them is Ars Collecta Josep Raventós Gran Reserva, which comes from a select blend of the oldest vineyards and the best grapes of the Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Xarel·lo, Parellada and Macabeo varieties. These are produced in an artisan manner at Celler Jaume, a micro-winery where innovation, research and quality are paramount. The grapes undergo a first fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by a second fermentation in the bottle, according to the traditional method, where they remain for 60 months on the lees before disgorgement and dosage.
