Arnot-Roberts Trout Gulch Vineyard Chardonnay is a wood-aged white wine made by Arnot-Roberts with the Chardonnay variety in the Santa Cruz Mountains in California (USA).
Arnot-Roberts was founded by two childhood friends, Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts, in 2001 in Healdsburg (Sonoma-California). In order to produce high quality red wines, they go looking for special vineyards in Northern California. A precise and honest work that has turned the project into a cult winery in the USA and the rest of the world.
Arnot-Roberts Trout Gulch Vineyard Chardonnay comes from vineyards planted in 1980 in the Santa Cruz Mountains. These Chardonnay vines are planted in sandy loam soils and grow slowly under the influence of the Pacific Ocean. They are cultivated using environmentally-friendly agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness.
In the winery, the Arnot-Roberts Trout Gulch Vineyard Chardonnay grapes are firstly pressed in whole bunches. The must then ferments spontaneously with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Finally, the wine ages in used French oak barrels for 10 months.
Arnot-Roberts Trout Gulch Vineyard Chardonnay is a true “terroir” wine full of personality and class. A pleasant surprise to be able to enjoy a Californian Chardonnay in the old world style.
