Arnot-Roberts Sanford and Benedict Vineyard Chardonnay is an organic, wood-aged white wine made with the Chardonnay variety by Arnot-Roberts in the AVA Sta. Rita hills, California (USA).
Childhood friends Nathan Roberts and Duncan Arnot-Meyers decided to set up their own winery, called Arnot-Roberts, to make great California wines. To do this, they went in search of unique vineyards that they could vinify with minimal intervention. As a result, they produce honest and very expressive limited production wines.
Arnot-Roberts Sanford and Benedict Vineyard Chardonnay comes from one of the most legendary vineyards in the Santa Rita Hills. These are Chardonnay vines planted in limestone soils with marine deposits. An extremely rare type of soil on the north coast that, when combined with organic agriculture and the local weather conditions, produces a very special Chardonnay.
Once the Arnot-Roberts Sanford and Benedict Vineyard Chardonnay grapes have been harvested, they are gently pressed and the resulting must spontaneously ferments with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Finally, the wine ages in used French oak barrels for 10 months.
Inspired by “old world” production, Arnot-Roberts Sanford and Benedict Vineyard Chardonnay is an elegant, fine white wine with notes of minerality.
