Aphros Wine Phaunus Pet Nat Branco is a natural, ecological and biodynamic sparkling wine made with the Loureiro variety in the Portuguese denomination Vinho Verde by Aphros Wines.
Vasco Croft is quite an unusual character of the winemaking scene. An educator, architect and sculptor, he converted to Buddhism and his life completely changed, becoming completely biodynamic winegrower. He revived the 14 hectares of family vineyards in Vinho Verde and founded Aphros Wines to make expressive, fresh wines with their own identity.
Aphros Wine Phaunus Pet Nat Branco comes from vineyards planted with the native Loureiro variety. He uses biodynamic agriculture with permaculture techniques, avoiding chemical products that could harm the natural balance of the terroir. When the grapes reach optimum ripeness, they are harvested manually.
To make the Aphros Wine Phaunus Pet Nat Branco wine, the grapes are left to macerate with the skins and then pressed. The resulting must is fermented in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts at a temperature between 14 and 16ºC. Fermentation finishes in the bottle without yeasts or added sugars and disgorging takes place 5 months later.
Aphros Wine Phaunus Pet Nat Branco is a truly refreshing Pétillant naturel (pet'nat). In other words, a sparkling wine made using the ancient method, without added wine products and bottled before the end of its alcoholic fermentation.
