Ànima Negra AN is a red wine made by the ánima Negra winery in Mallorca, using the Callet, Manto Negro and Fogoneu native varieties in the IGP Mallorca.
Ànima Negra is the initiative of three friends, Francesc Grimalt, Pere Obrador and Miguel ángel Cerdà, who are working to revive Mallorca’s native grapes. A project that began in 1997 by transforming a dairy farm with its milk tanks included, into a winery. Their wines are made through long macerations, strong extractions and vinification with plenty of oxygenation. These methods result in very personal, complex and elegant wines.
Ànima Negra AN comes from old Callet strains, a variety that only exists in Mallorca. They are planted in a poor soils that are iron oxide rich on calcareous rocks, and with fruit trees living alongside. The harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach their optimum ripeness.
In the winery, Ànima Negra AN ferments at a controlled temperature in 5,000-litre cement tanks and 3,000-litre wooden vats. It is macerated for 25 to 30 days and undergoes malolactic fermentation with 60% in barrels and the rest in cement tanks. Finally, it ages in new French oak barrels.

Ànima Negra AN 2017 is a fruity red wine with aromas of very ripe black fruit, complemented by spicy notes, balsamic touches, fresh menthol, floral hints and elegant roasted notes. On the palate it is elegant, dense and pleasant with fruity and mineral touches. Long and persistent finish.
