About Albiker
Albiker is a red wine produced by Bodegas Altún, in Baños de Ebro, D.O.Ca Rioja.
Bodegas Altún is a winery that was founded in 1989, with the aim of producing wines of the highest quality, respecting the traditional production methods without ceasing to apply new winemaking technologies.
In 1994 José Antonio Martinez started to select vineyards to make their wines. Currently, they work with 45 hectares of their own vineyard in the Rioja Alavesa, with an average age of 40 years. Clayey-calcareous soils and a moderate Atlantic climate thanks to the protection of the Sierra de Cantabria, mark the character of these excellent wines.
Albiker is a wine made from Tempranillo and a small percentage of Viura, and produced with the traditional carbonic maceration method. Once the manual harvest and the grape selection are performed, whole bunches are stored in concrete presses where they are fermented. Once the fermentation has finished, grapes undergo the traditional stomping.
Albiker is a tasty, expressive and fresh wine, very fruity and slightly flowery. "Albiker" is formed by combining the names Alberto and Iker, the two sons of José Antonio.
