Alléno & Chapoutier Côtes du Rhone Rouge 2020 is a juicy, intense and very tasty red, full of defined nuances that make it very fine on the palate. The nose is complex, very aromatic, with sweet spices, red fruits and garrigue. The palate is powerful, with explosive, very long tannins reminiscent of mainly liquorice. Very seductive and suggestive.
One of them is the French chef with the most Michelin stars. The other is the winemaker with the most Parker points (nine of his wines have achieved the full 100 points from the American critic). And the two together form an unstoppable duo.
It has been more than ten years since Yannick Alléno and Michel Chapoutier decided to join forces and now, some time later, their wines are still a great success. All of this is down to the love, the true passion that both of them feel for every corner of the Rhone Valley. In the north, in the A.O.C. Côtes du Rhône, they make Alléno & Chapoutier Côtes du Rhone Rouge, a unique and tasty red wine.
Alléno & Chapoutier Côtes du Rhone Rouge is a single-variety Syrah. These lands of sands, granites and marls rich in iron oxide, are home to this variety that grows on the steep banks of the Rhône. In the northern area the climate is wetter and colder than in the south, with harsher winters and mild summers, without high temperatures. This inevitably affects the ripening of the grapes; in this area the harvests happen later, making wines with a much fresher and more defined profile than those from the south. There is also the presence of the mistral, a strong dry wind that, apart from making everyone nervous, is quite useful when it comes to keeping fungi and fungal diseases caused by humidity at bay.
Alléno & Chapoutier Côtes du Rhone Rouge is harvested by hand and processed and made in the winery with great care, resulting in a wine with a very characteristic profile. This is provided by the concrete tanks where Alléno & Chapoutier Côtes du Rhone Rouge ferments and rests for twelve months. Chapoutier is an essential name in any wine guide. The same is true with Alléno in the food industry. Following the advice of both of them, you are sure to enjoy a tasty and unique evening. And without a doubt the best wine to pair it with is Alléno & Chapoutier Côtes du Rhone Rouge.
