Alex Foillard Brouilly is a natural red wine made by Alex Foillard with the Gamay variety in the AOC Brouilly, in Beaujolais (France).
Alex Foillard is the son of Jean Foillard, one of the legendary producers in reinterpreting the production of Beaujolais wines. After working in different wineries around the world, at the age of 24 he set up his own winery and, following the natural wine movement that his father started, he makes wonderful wines with a local identity.
Alex Foillard Brouilly comes from a 1 hectare vineyard with vines aged 30 to 50 years old planted on granite and sand soils. They are cultivated using organic agriculture without any synthetic chemicals and respecting the natural environment. An artisan work that avoids any type of machinery.
In the winery, the Alex Foillard Brouilly grapes undergo a traditional carbonic maceration in whole bunches and ferment spontaneously with native yeasts in cement tanks. The wine then ages in used French oak barrels for 12 months. Finally, it is bottled without clarifying or filtering, and there are no additives of any kind, except a small dose of sulphur.
Alex Foillard Brouilly reflects the depth, purity and freshness that is so characteristic of the new Beaujolais wines. A pleasant Brouilly that is full of nuances and juiciness.
Alex Foillard Brouilly 2019 is a smooth red wine with delicious aromas of red fruits, herbaceous notes and spicy touches. On the palate it is light, chewy and fresh. A delicate, elegant wine with a very pleasant balance.
