Bodegas Muriel was founded in 1926 by José Murúa Villaverde in Elciego, one of the most famous and appreciated hubs of the Rioja Alavesa.
The balance between the past and the future defines the character of Bodegas Muriel, a winery that opts to connect history with a focus on the present.
In 1986, Julián Murúa decided to continue the work started by his father. He revived the family winery under the Muriel name, which combines his surname (Murúa) with the winery's place of origin, Elciego. Thus, began the second chapter of this exciting project. The winery currently possesses the experience and vision of its managers, Julián Murúa and his son, Javier Murúa.
