About Viña Pomal Reserva

Viña Pomal Reserva is a classic wine from D.O. Rioja made by Bodegas Bilbaínas. The first vintage from Viña Pomal was in 1908. This wine has been adapted to new times but without losing the essence of its origin.  
This wine is a single variety Tempranillo (100%) grown in the Viña Pomal estate, located on the town of Haro, between the Ebro and Tirón River.
The vines are planted in gravelly limestone soils with low fertility.
The climate in this area is Mediterranean continental characterized by low rainfall, especially in summer, and the temperature contrast between winter and summer.
As for the production, there is a long marceration with a destemming and squeezing.
There is an alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, afterwards, they transfer and clarify the wine before passing it into the barrels.
Viña Pomal Reserva rests for 18 months in American oak barrels. During this period, they carry out 2 or 3 rackings to clarify wine naturally.
Finally, prior to being released onto the market, the wine rests two years in bottle.

2018

2013 Viña Pomal Reserva 2013 is a mature, round and balanced wine. This vintage reveals an excellent balance between maturity and freshness. On the nose, aromas of ripe red fruit stand out with refined toasted notes from its ageing. In the mouth, it is silky, pleasant and very long.
2010 On the palate it is soft, round and balanced. This wine has body and a pleasant acidity.

Ruby colour with red brick reflections. Clean and bright.

On the nose there are red fruit aromas with notes from the aging like spices, tobacco leaves and vanilla.
2008 In the palate, this is a clean, crispy, classic and well bodied red wine, with a good acidity and a ripe and very pleasant tannic sensation. Long and persistent finish.

Beautiful and intense ruby red colour with light maroon reflections and light brick red edges.

Clean, high intensity nasal aromas in which the notes of red fruit stand out mixed with hints of cherries in liquor, tobacco, notes of undergrowth and sweet spices. Complex and seductive aromas.
