About Viña El Corregidor de Carrascal

There are wines that are not born to follow a predetermined path, but rather to reclaim one that seemed forgotten. In 2002, while Europe was introducing a new currency and embarking on a new era, in Jerez (Spain), Luis Pérez was initiating a different kind of transformation: restoring the vineyard's lost prominence and reviving the grandeur of its historic estates. From this vision emerges Viña El Corregidor de Carrascal, a unique sparkling wine that proves Jerez still holds unexpected ways to surprise.
 
Its name already offers a clue: Carrascal is the landscape where it all begins. In this historic estate, the albariza of barajuelas (the purest and most characteristic white soil of Jerez) and the Atlantic influence create a unique setting, where the Palomino Fino vines sink their roots into a land rich in calcium carbonate and minerals, capable of preserving freshness even under the Andalusian sun. Crafted outside a conventional geographical indication, Viña El Corregidor de Carrascal is born from a philosophy that prioritises origin over any label.
 
In the winery, Viña El Corregidor de Carrascal follows an unconventional path. After fermentation, the wine rests for a year under a veil of flor in Jerez casks before embarking on a long bottle ageing, with the addition of a concentrated must of sun-dried Pedro Ximénez and the yeasts from the subsequent harvest, adhering to the traditional method. The result is a sparkling wine with fine bubbles and a creamy texture, where notes of dried fruits emerge, accompanied by a pronounced minerality and that saline character that connects the glass to the Atlantic breeze of its land.
 
Viña El Corregidor de Carrascal reveals a different facet of Jerez, more liberated and surprising, without losing the depth of its history. It is one of those bottles that arrive at a table with more than just a sparkling wine: they bring a place, a conversation, and that small satisfaction of discovering something special before others do. For there are few things as enjoyable as opening an unexpected bottle and being able to share the story it holds within.
