About Viña Alberdi
Vina Alberdi is a red wine from the Rioja region produced by La Rioja Alta, a winery which was founded on July 10, 1890 by five Rioja and Basque families passionate about wine. They founded the Wine Society of La Rioja Alta to start the new project.
This wine is a varietal Tempranillo (100 %) from their own vineyards over 30 years planted between 500 and 600 meters above the sea level. These vineyards are planted in clay and limestone soil. The vineyards are located in Rodezno and Labastida. The climate in this area of Rioja (Rioja Alta) is moderately continental with a clear Cantabrian influence. As for the production, the grapes are harvested at their peak of ripeness. The fermentation is then carried out at a controlled temperature. After the malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in American oak barrels for 24 months: the first year in new oak and the second year in older oak.
