Valserrano Crianza is a red wine from the Rioja prepared by Viñedos y Bodegas de la Marquesa, a winery that was established during the second half of the nineteenth century by D. Francisco Javier Solano y Eulate, owner of a large expanse of vineyards in Villabuena. Currently, the winery is run by its fourth and fifth generation.

The climate in Rioja Alavesa is Mediterranean with a strong influence from the Cantabrian Sea. The temperatures are softened by the Sierra de Cantabria, which acts as a natural barrier against the cold north winds. This wine is a blend of Tempranillo (90%) and Mazuelo (10%) from 65 hectares of family vineyards with vines with an average age of 25 years. As for processing, after a cold maceration, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Each variety is vinified separately. Finally, Valserrano Crianza spends 18 months in barrels of American and French oak.

The origins of the cave date back to the second half of the nineteenth century, when D. Francisco Javier Solano and Eulate, "Marques de la Solana," the owner of a major extension of vineyards Villabuena decides, on the advice of the famous Bordeaux winemaker of the time Mr. Pineau, initiate the development and aging of their wines according to the methods imported from the Medoc and selling bottled, after aging, with the trademark "Marques de la Solana".
Rioja is one of the most important areas of wine production in the world. It has a long history, and exceptional soils and climates. From the Tempranillo and Grenache varieties they make great red wines that are masterfully aged which demonstrates the experience passed from generation to generation.
