Vadio Tinto is an organic red wine made with the Baga variety by Vadio in the DOC Bairrada, in Beiras (Portugal).
After gaining experience in Portugal, Australia, California and Chile, the winemaker Luís Patrão decided to create his own Vadio project in the village of Poutena, in the region of Bairrada. Two plots of vineyards which seek to recover traditional varieties and which classic wines are made from, respecting the authenticity of the terroir.
Vadio Tinto comes from own vineyards planted in sandy and limestone soils. These vines are about 30 years old and grown organically, without using chemicals and limiting the yield to 45 hl/ha. Harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.
In the winery, the Vadio Tinto grapes are crushed in small tanks where they ferment spontaneously with native yeasts. The wine is then aged in used 225-liter French oak barrels for 24 months and a further 12 months in the bottle. Due to going through a very slight filtration, deposits may be found with ageing.
Vadio Tinto comes from the fusion of elegance and concentration that gives the Baga, the prevailing variety in the Bairrada area.
