Trénel Saint Véran Clos des Poncetys is an organic single-variety Chardonnay white wine produced by the Trénel winery in the AOC Saint-Véran in Burgundy, France.
The Trénel Saint Véran Clos des Poncetys wine is made with grape clusters from the Clos des Poncetys plots in Davayé, on the border with Pouilly-Fuissé. The vines are organically cultivated and the soils are composed of red clay on a calcareous rocky bed, which results in fine and mineral wines with excellent longevity.
The clusters come from vines aged around 55 years old. Fermentation takes place with native yeasts and controlled temperatures of 20ºC to 21ºC which brings a touch of opulence to the wine. There is no malolactic fermentation to preserve freshness. Finally, the wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels.
Maison Trénel, a family winery in the heart of Burgundy, has over 80 years of winemaking history behind it and produces wines with the Gamay and Chardonnay varieties as well as liqueurs made with local fruits. This winery shares its values with another great winemaker, Maison M. Chapoutier, and they work very closely together.
Trénel Saint Véran Clos des Poncetys is a complex and delicate white wine that is a great and affordable introduction to Burgundy whites.
