About Tamerán Marmajuelo
In the Guanche period, when the aborigines inhabited the Canary Islands, people spoke the Guanche language and Gran Canaria was called Tamerán. And as a tribute to the island’s history, elite footballer David Silva gave his wine project this very name. He set up this winery in 2019 with help from the Suertes del Marqués winegrower, Jonatan García, who has helped him fulfil his dream of making great wines in his homeland.
Tamerán Marmajuelo is a white wine made with the native Marmajuelo variety from the 6 hectares lying on the edge of the Santa Lucía and San Bartolomé de Tirajana municipalities, in the centre of Gran Canaria (Canary Islands). The vines are planted in volcanic soil with vegetation cover at an altitude of 620-700 metres above sea level. In the winery the grapes ferment with native yeasts in 25h foudres, where the wine rests on lees for 9 months.
This is how Tamerán Marmajuelo is made, a white wine with a markedly Canarian flavour and which proves the success of this adventure for the midfielder nicknamed “the magician”.
2020 |
Tamerán Marmajuelo 2020 is a white wine with intense citrus aromas, floral notes and saline touches. On the palate it is fresh, lively and mineral. A wine with a very marked acidity, a fatty mid-palate and a long and persistent finish. |
