About Selva Capuzza Lugana Menasasso
The new generations of a family business always have the job of supporting new trends, setting challenges and driving innovation. Overall, they demonstrate that it is possible to make changes and take risks for the future. For Luca Formentini, fourth generation of the Selva Capuzza family winery, his main purpose since taking over the company in the 1990s, has been to enhance the value of the three most important Controlled Denominations of Origin on the Brescia side of Lake Garda, in Lombardy (Italy). Within the Lugana, San Martino della Battaglia and Riviera del Garda Classico denominations, the focus is on native varieties and organic agriculture to showcase the area in its natural state. This is an example of historical, cultural and environmental conservation that allows them to create unique wines with their own identity.
Selva Capuzza Lugana Menasasso is a white wine from the wine-growing area of Lake Garda, in the town of Menasasso. A wine made from Turbiana grapes, also called Trebbiano di Lugana, which are grown using organic and biological principles. When the grapes reach optimum ripeness, they are manually harvested in 20 kg boxes and quickly taken to the winery. There they are destemmed and gently pressed and the resulting must begins fermentation with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The wine then spends a minimum of 12 months in stainless steel and barrels.
The result is Selva Capuzza Lugana Menasasso, an innovative commitment to tradition. A return to the origins in search of the identity of an area with a great vision of the future.
2017 | Selva Capuzza Lugana Menasasso 2017 is a creamy white wine with delicate aromas of fresh flowers, ripe yellow fruit and aromatic herbs. The palate is unctuous, refreshing and smooth. A wine with an enveloping minerality, an ample and well-balanced mid-palate and a persistent finish. |
