The common saying “like father, like son” doesn’t at all apply to Samuel Billaud. When this talented and brilliant winemaker began to explore his ideas in the Domaine Billaud-Simon vineyards, a clash of the generations made him wonder whether to go his own way. This is how he ended up establishing his own project by acquiring some vineyards in the classic Burgundy area of Cote D'Or.
His Samuel Billaud Chablis Les Grands Terroirs is one of the best village Chablis you will find and has excellent value for money. This wine is made using Chardonnay vineyards planted between 1952 and 1987 in limestone soils and cultivated according to the principles of respectful agriculture. In the winery, Samuel makes his wines by plot using oak barrels to add complexity. When the aging process has finished, the wine is placed in stainless steel tanks for 4 to 6 months to enhance freshness and tension.
Samuel Billaud Chablis Les Grands Terroirs is a complex, long-living and aromatic wine. An incredibly affordable Chablis that could easily be mistaken for a Premier Cru.
