About Roserock Drouhin Pinot Noir
You don’t have to be a millennial to ask where the products we buy come from, who made them and how they are made. More and more shoppers are looking for organic, environmentally friendly items and paying attention to excess waste. Sustainability is also important in the wine industry, and depending on the region a winery is based in, there are various certifications available. In Oregon, like in Washington and Idaho, more and more wineries are gaining the LIVE certification (low input viticulture and enology). To be awarded this status, wineries must pass a series of checks to ensure compliance with sustainable practices throughout the winemaking process.
Roserock, an old Burgundy winery that started in 1880 and crossed the pond to make the American dream a reality, is a champion of sustainable agriculture. Run by Philippe Drouhin and Véronique Boss-Drouhin, this couple settled in the Dundee Hills area of the Willamette Valley to explore and showcase the terroirs of Oregon (USA). With this in mind, Roserock Drouhin Pinot Noir is made from a selection of Pinot Noirs from the 35 plots of the estate that are cultivated using respectful agriculture and harvested by hand. Once in the winery, the different batches of grapes are destemmed and fermented separately at a controlled temperature and then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels.
In Eola-Amity Hills AVA, a denomination where the Pinot Noir is known for its structure and power, Roserock Drouhin Pinot Noir is a cuvée with unique elegant and delicious qualities; the culmination of a rich family history that began in Beaune, France over a century ago and has always championed sustainability in winemaking.
