About Roda Reserva

Roda Reserva is a red wine coupage made mostly with the Tempranillo variety accompanied by Graciano and Garnacha, made by Bodegas Roda, in the D.O.Ca Rioja.

Bodegas Roda is in the city of Haro, on a plot dating back to the 19th century which is part of the Barrio de la Estación in La Rioja Alta. Roda has some new and modern facilities and has quickly earned itself a place among the elite Riojan wineries using environmentally friendly techniques along with innovative production and research and development techniques, and meticulous work in the vineyard and in the winery.

At Bodegas Roda, they plotted a map to show the best hectares of vineyards in the region and they make wine by grouping them according to the characteristics of each plot, trying to make each bottle a faithful representation of the land it comes from.

Roda Reserva is made by taking the wines from the plots which, when mature, express the ripe red fruit. The amount of Garnacha and Graciano in the coupage varies, depending on the characteristics of each vintage. All wines undergo alcoholic fermentation in large French oak vats at a controlled temperature, and malolactic fermentation takes place in French barrels.

The wine ages for 14 months in French oak barrels, 40% new and 60% second use. It stabilises naturally and is clarified with egg whites for bottling. It then rests in the bottles for 30 months before going to market.

2020

Roda 2020 reveals itself as a captivating red wine, striking an exquisite balance between vivacity and ripeness. On the nose, it unfurls a diverse palette of aromas, with cherries and an assortment of red fruits taking centre stage, interwoven with delicate hints of spice. Upon tasting, it is smooth and refined, boasting polished tannins that segue into a lingering finish. A flavourful red, eminently suited to culinary pairings, it is both expressive and fruit-forward.
2019 Roda Reserva 2019 is a red wine with exquisite complexity on the nose where ripe red fruit predominates accompanied by spices (clove, cinnamon) on a mineral background of limestone earth. The palate has a pleasant volume and a lovely fruity sensation. An elegant, deep and mature wine with great aging potential.
2018

Roda Reserva 2018 is a fruit-forward red wine. Olfactorily, it is highly expressive and potent, adorned with hints of spices and a refreshing quality. On the palate, red fruit dominates, bursting forth with vigor. It boasts considerable body, a crisp progression, a silky texture, and an extended finish.
2017

Roda Reserva 2017 is a mature red wine with aromas of black and red fruit, mineral notes and hints of well-integrated wood. On the palate it’s voluminous, velvety and complex. A wine full of fruity nuances with silky tannins and well-integrated acidity. The finish is long, fresh and sweet.
2016

Roda Reserva 2016 is an aged red wine exuding profound aromas of ripe red fruits, hints of cinnamon and clove, underpinned by a woodland underbrush essence. On the palate, it is full-bodied, velvety, and exceptionally enveloping. A vibrant and succulent fruit burst is seamlessly integrated with the oak. The finish is extensive and immensely satisfying.

 
2015 Roda Reserva 2015 is a red wine that expresses notes of red fruits with dominant cherries. The nose is fruity as well as having a Mediterranean profile and sweet spices like cinnamon and cloves behind the red fruits. On the palate it is bulky, with fine tannins and reinforcing the fruits from the nose. A lingering and fresh wine that is pleasant and versatile.
2014

Roda Reserva 2014 is a mature red wine boasting expressive red fruit, earthy undertones, and hints of spice. On the palate, it is velvety, with substantial body and a fruit-forward character. This harmonious wine concludes with a pleasant finish, evoking memories of spices and aromatic herbs. 

 
2013

Roda Reserva 2013 is an elegantly aged red wine, boasting vibrant aromas of ripe red fruit, hints of damp earth, and subtle spicy undertones. On the palate, it is full-bodied, graceful yet compelling. The wine possesses a lively acidity, refined and gentle tannins, and considerable persistence. 

 
2010 Pleasant and silky entry, with good body. Well balanced acidity and round tannins. Very cool, medium aftertaste.

Dark cherry red, upper middle layer. Clean and bright.

Great aromatic intensity, a presence of red fruits with spicy and herbal notes. Slightly balsamic background.
2008 This wine shows a good, quite bulky and silky attack and a very nice mid palate in which the same red fruit notes noticed in the nose appear. It shows a good acidity which provides it with freshness and a soft and very refined tannic sensation.

Cherry red colour with maroon edges. Clean and bright wine with thin, slow-falling tears.

Good intensity nasal aromas, among which the intense and very expressive notes of ripe red fruit stand out. Perfectly integrated light toasted aromas are also felt. Some balsamic and spicy notes are also noticed along with hints of wet earth.
2007 Very elegant aromas. From the outset, the fruit coats the mouth with very nice spicy hints. It shows a  long, fresh, very tasty and silky mid palate with an excellent acidity and ripe tannins. Perfect balance. Long and very persistent finish with a nice fruity aftertaste and hints of sweet spices.

Intense dark red colour with thin ruby red edges. Medium robe and bright and dense tears.

Great aromatic intensity with dominant notes of red fruit. The notes of fresh and ripe fruit appear little by little in a complex way. Initially, they wrap the aromas of fine woods. When the wine opens up, the fruit wraps a wide range of spices and balsamic aromas, with a delicate and tasty cocoa background.
2006 In the mouth the red fruit is the star, with a fresh palate, long, smooth and continuous volume. With a background of vanilla, mineral touches and memories of leather that form a harmonious whole.

Trimmed dark ruby brown. Dense tear.

Intensely aromatic with great presence of toast and vanilla, with a background of ripe red fruit, leaves of snuff and a little chocolate.
2005 In the mouth the red fruit is the star, with a fresh mouth passage, long, silky, continuous volume. Excellent wines for food, very versatile, capable of paired with a fish with a roast or a stew complex.
