About Roda I Reserva
Roda I is a red wine made by Bodegas Roda, in the D.O.Ca Rioja.
Roda is a modern winery sitting on a balcony of the famous Barrio de la Estación in Haro, the capital of La Rioja Alta, on a nineteenth century ‘calado’. Its facilities are tailored to the wines that are made there, where they are committed to innovation without neglecting the region’s centuries-old winemaking tradition.
A ‘calado’ is a kind of underground cave with high humidity and a constant temperature throughout the year, making it the perfect place to store and age wine.
At Bodegas Roda, wines are made and classified according to the characteristics of each plot. Each bottle reflects the landscape. These plots are old vineyards that provide high quality grapes.
Roda I Reserva is made from plots that tend to express black fruit and depth. The vineyards are harvested selectively looking for optimal ripeness. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in oak vats at a controlled temperature. The wine is aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new and the rest have been used once. Finally it stabilises naturally, it is clarified with egg white and bottled. It rests in the winery for 20 months to finish rounding.
Roda I Reserva is perfect for enjoying straight away, but it also has excellent storage capacity.
