Protos Serie Privada 2021 reveals itself in the glass with a striking dark cherry red colour, enhanced by bright garnet highlights. As you bring it to your nose, you're captivated by intense aromas of wild berries such as blackberry and raspberry, accompanied by notes of liquorice and a gentle hint of spices and balsamic undertones. On the palate, its good acidity and the perfect balance between the fruit and the toasted nuances from the barrel make it particularly appealing. Its texture is fleshy, and its finish, persistent and harmonious, leaves a memorable impression. It stands out as a wine where the strength of the fruit merges with subtlety and complexity, making each sip a pure and sophisticated expression.

About Protos Serie Privada

In the realm of literature, a "private series" may refer to a collection of books published for a select audience, such as an association of collectors or a group of friends. These editions typically have a limited print run and may include additional content not available in public editions. With this same intention, Protos, one of Spain's most iconic wineries located in the heart of DO. Ribera del Duero, introduces us to Protos Serie Privada. A premium red wine whose term "private series" indicates it is a limited and exclusive production intended for a select group of consumers.
 
Considering it is a limited production where tinta del país reigns supreme, Protos Serie Privada is a single-variety wine derived from vines over 50 years old. The oldest vines of the winery, cultivated traditionally and harvested at the optimal point of ripeness in 20 kg boxes. In the winery, the fruit is sorted on a selection table and then carefully destemmed. Fermentation is conducted in stainless steel tanks with temperature control between 26 and 28 ºC and a maceration period of 21 days with several daily pump-overs. Subsequently, the wine ages for 18 months in barrels, of which 50% are new French barrels, 30% are one-year-old French barrels, and the remaining 20% are one-year-old American barrels.
 
As its name suggests, Protos Serie Privada is a small masterpiece specially crafted for great red wine enthusiasts. A limited edition in which each bottle reflects the unique character of DO. Ribera del Duero and exudes authenticity. Undoubtedly, a wine to collect.

Protos Serie Privada 2020 exhibits a deep cherry red hue with garnet reflections that hint at the intensity of its character. On the nose, this wine reveals an array of aromas where black fruits like blackberry and red fruits like cherry stand out. On the palate, it offers a velvety and flavourful experience, with a subtle hint of fine woods that culminates in a long and highly aromatic finish. 
2019

Protos Serie Privada 2019 is a concentrated red wine with prominent aromas of ripe red and black fruits accompanied by notes of wood and delicious hints of roasting. In the mouth, it is tasty, velvety and complex. A wine with good structure, present acidity and very well-integrated tannins. The finish is persistent, long and very elegant.
2018

Protos Serie Privada 2018 is a concentrated red wine with outstanding aromas of ripe red and black fruits accompanied by woody notes and delicious hints of toast. On the palate it is flavoursome, velvety and complex. A wine with good structure, noticeable acidity and very well integrated tannins. The finish is persistent, long and very elegant.
