About Familia Torres Mas La Plana
Familia Torres Mas La Plana is a distinguished red wine from the D.O. Penedès, crafted by Familia Torres. This red was among the trailblazers, alongside Jean Leon, in the introduction of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape to Spain.
Familia Torres Mas La Plana achieved first place in the 1979 Gault Millau Wine Olympics in Paris, the most esteemed competition of the time. It triumphed over the renowned French chateaux, subsequently garnering numerous international accolades and becoming the flagship wine of Familia Torres. The high-quality reputation consistently associated with the winery owes much to Familia Torres Mas La Plana.
This wine is a single-varietal made from the most exquisite Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, harvested from a small 29-hectare vineyard. It undergoes an 18-month maturation in French oak barrels followed by a further 9 months of bottle aging.
