About Livio Felluga Pinot Grigio
Livio Felluga Pinot Grigio is a single-variety Pinot Grigio white wine produced by the Livio Felluga winery, under the DOC Friuli Colli Orientali in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy.
The Pinot Grigio grape is a mutation of the famous Pinot Noir. Because it prefers cooler climates, it has found its ideal home in the Friuli hills and has become one of the most iconic varieties in Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
The grapes used to make the Livio Felluga Pinot Grigio wine come from vineyards with predominantly loam and sandstone soils. The grapes are harvested by hand. When the grapes reach the winery, the clusters are carefully destemmed and allowed to macerate for a short time. Once maceration has finished, they are pressed gently and the must obtained is clarified by decantation. The must ferments in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperatures. Once fermentation has finished, the wine is kept with its lees for six months, then it is bottled and stored for two more months to finish refining it before it is sold.
Livio Felluga knew his land in Collio Oriental inch by inch. He developed it from scratch after the area was abandoned at the end of World War II. He devoted himself to his work until his death, at 102 years of age. The estate covers 160 hectares. The founder, Felluga, is considered to be the father of viticulture in Friuli.

2018 | Livio Felluga Pinot Grigio 2018 is a complex and immersive white wine with orange blossom, daisies and white wisteria on the nose as well as well-balanced fruity notes of apricots, white melon and peaches with citrus nuances. On the palate it has a complex entrance with a velvety and fresh mid-palate, which brings back the fruity flavours. A flavoursome wine with a persistent aftertaste. |
