Characteristics Les Terrasses

Les Terrasses is a red wine coupage of the Garnacha and Cariñena varieties with 1% of local white grapes. It is made by the Álvaro Palacios winery in the D.O. Q. Priorat in Gratallops, Catalonia.

Les Terrasses wine is made from grapes that come from nine different Priorat towns: Gratallops, Porrera, Torroja, Scala Dei, Les Vilelles, Bellmunt, El Molar, El Lloar and Poboleda. The vines range in age from 62 to 92 years old, planted in plots with predominantly siliceous slate soils and ecologically cultivated.

When the clusters reach the winery, they are destemmed and gently squeezed to begin alcoholic fermentation in concrete and wooden vats, with native yeasts and regular cap plunges. The resulting wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in wooden vats and barrels and ages for 12 months in barrels.

Les Terrasses is a red wine from the renowned winemaker Álvaro Palacios that captures the personality of the steep slopes of Priorat. It carries the concentration and character of the old vines it is made from and has the winery’s characteristic elegance. An essential for wine lovers.

Les Terrasses 2017 is a red wine with aromas of ripe red and black fruits on the nose accompanied by roasted, mineral and balsamic nuances. On the palate it is velvety and fruity with a good structure and balanced acidity. A wine with a great aging potential that will be at its best after five years in the bottle.
Very fresh, silky and balanced. Passing is creamy and unctuous, pleasant flavours of red fruit with a mineral touches. Very good acidity. Long finish.

Its expressive notes of fruit, along with the fine toasted creamy touches, spices, good chocolate and elegant minerals form a set of sensations which can hardly be forgotten. Excellent and very nice acidity. Rich tannins that become integrated over the time. Very long and very persistent finish.
