About Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut N/V
The legendary maison Laurent-Perrier is renowned for many things: its unmistakable style (recognizable even in a blind tasting), the art of packaging (where they achieve the perfect portion of each variety and vintage)...; but little is said about maceration, another process where Laurent-Perrier excels and was a pioneer in the late 1960s. The pinnacle of that innovation is embodied in Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut.
It was the year 1968. France, particularly Paris, was in a state of effervescence, and Bernard de Nonancourt saw it clearly: it was time to seize this moment of change and carry out his personal revolution by daring to innovate. Thus, maceration in their sparkling wines emerged. This practice, where the must is left in contact with the skins for a period, was entirely unknown in the A.O.C. Champagne. This appellation had never before implemented this process. But there is always a first time for everything, and this is how a new path was inaugurated, with Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut as the trailblazer.
Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut is crafted from pinot noir cultivated and selected in ten crus of the Montagne de Reims, in the northern part of the A.O.C. Champagne. The grapes are harvested and taken to the winery where Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut is crushed, creating a must where the juice will remain in contact with the skins. This process, which in the case of Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut will last between 48 and 72 hours, serves to extract aromas and color that will be enhanced later during fermentation (which will take place in stainless steel tanks). Once the base wine is achieved, Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut is bottled and left to rest for about five years. During these months, it will have ample time to undergo the second fermentation where those sought-after and desired bubbles will appear, a result of the CO2 released by the yeasts.
Laurent Perrier is not only synonymous with champagne; it is also synonymous with History. And Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut is a chapter that no one should miss.
