Judith Beck Blaufränkisch is a biodynamic red wine made with the Blaufränkisch variety by winemaker Judith Beck in Weinland Österreich (Burgenland).
In 2004, having studied in world-famous wine regions like Bordeaux, Piedmont and Chile, Judith Beck took on her father's winery in the Austrian town of Gols, in Burgenland and began working with biodynamic practices on her 15 hectare estate. This way of doing things has seen her become a member of Pannobile, an association of 9 winemakers who promote the production of wines that reveal the unique character of the area.
Starting with the aim of respecting the environment and producing the best quality native varieties, the Judith Beck Blaufränkisch grapes are grown following the cycles of the moon and using natural compost, herbal remedies and wild grass crops between the rows of vines. The grapes are harvested by hand.
Once in the winery, Judith Beck Blaufränkisch is made through spontaneous fermentation in large wooden barrels with native yeasts. It also goes through malolactic fermentation. Before bottling, the use of sulphur, clarification and filtration are minimised.
Judith Beck Blaufränkisch is a lively and fresh biodynamic wine that shows the delicacy and lightness that red wines can have in one of Austria's most promising wine regions.
2015 | Judith Beck Blaufränkisch 2016 is a bright, juicy red wine full of aromas of black fruits like cherries, plums and blackberries. On the palate it is smooth and fruity with a good final acidity. |
