Characteristics Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett
Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett is a single-variety sweet Riesling wine, produced by the Joh. Jos. Prüm winery, in the Mosel Valley, Germany.
The Joh. Jos. Prüm winery dates back to the 17th century, with Johann Josef Prüm inheriting the estate in 1911. It is made up of 14 hectares where 70% of the vines are free standing. The Graacher Himmelreich and Wehlener Sonnenuhr vineyards, where the grapes used to make this Kabinett come from, are exceptionally high-quality. It is currently Dr. Manfred Prüm, grandson of Johann Josef Prüm, who is in charge of the winery that is still making classic Rieslings, which are some of the best in Germany.
In German wine classification, Kabinett means “wine set aside” and is a term given to wines that are made with fully ripened grapes and that are usually semi-sweet.
The Joh. Jos. Prüm winery makes some of the best Mosel wines. These are delicate and elegant wines that are pure and vivacious with a great aging potential.
