About Il Conventino Rosso di Montepulciano

In response to mounting concerns regarding the adverse effects of conventional agriculture on both the environment and human health, the practice of organic farming emerged. This movement, which began to take shape in Europe in the 1920s, did not gain widespread popularity until the 1970s. One of the forerunners in adopting this work philosophy in the Toscana was Il Conventino, a winery with approximately 10 hectares nestled in the heart of the Montepulciano wine-producing region, crafting wines of exceptional quality as a result of the symbiotic relationship between man and land. Owned by the Brini family since 2003, it steadfastly adheres to a commitment to respecting both tradition and the surrounding nature.

Valuing indigenous grape varieties, Il Conventino Rosso di Montepulciano is a blend primarily composed of the region's star grape, sangiovese, along with a small proportion of other local red varieties. The vineyards are organic, staunchly defending biodiversity and eschewing chemical products such as herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides. In the winery, ancient practices are employed to extract the maximum vigor and authenticity from the fruit. After the grapes are selected, destemmed, and crushed, they ferment in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures with indigenous yeasts and macerate with the skins for about 10 days. Subsequently, the wine is refined in 50 hl Slavonian oak barrels and further matured for 3 months in the bottle.
