About Heinrich Blaufränkisch
Heinrich Blaufränkisch is an organic, barrel-aged red wine made with the Blaufränkisch variety in Burgenland (Austria) by the Heinrich winery.
The Heinrich family is known for transforming the Austrian region of Burgenland-Neusiedlersee, a mostly white wine producing region, into a prestigious wine region of high-quality reds. Since Gernot and his wife Heike took over in 1985, they have learned how to get the best out of the family wine estate and they have become leading producers.
Heinrich Blaufränkisch comes from vineyards planted on Lake Neusiedl at the foot of the Leithaberg mountain. A location characterised by its limestone and shale soils. The team use organic cultivation without the use of herbicides, pesticides or any other chemical products. Harvesting and selection in the vineyard is carried out manually.
In the winery, the Heinrich Blaufränkisch grapes are gently crushed and fermented spontaneously with native yeasts followed by a two-week maceration in wooden and stainless steel tanks. Finally, it ages in wooden tanks and in used 500-litre oak barrels for 18 months.
Heinrich Blaufränkisch is an authentic wine with a strong background. A bright, intense and very fruity red that is a great example of all the fantastic wines than have recently been made in Burgenland.
2017 | Heinrich Blaufränkisch 2017 is a smooth red wine with aromas of small red fruits, herbal notes and spicy touches. On the palate it is tasty, light and lively. A medium-bodied wine with soft tannins and a delicate, lively acidity. |
