About Gerovassiliou Rosé
Vangelis Gerovassiliou is a great champion of Greek viticulture. Not only did he decide to revive the 2.5-hectare family vineyard 25 km from Thessaloniki in the Epanomi region (Greece), but he also created a Wine Museum alongside various activities aimed at educating people about wine culture in his homeland and around the world. In his Ktima Gerovassiliou winery, he is constantly experimenting with Greek and foreign varieties and, with the help of new technologies, he is recovering the long winemaking tradition of the P.G.I. Epanomi.
Vineyards rocked by the Aegean Sea breezes that, following a château philosophy, produce wines like Gerovassiliou Rosé. This is a single-variety Xinomavro, a charismatic Greek grape variety that has adapted perfectly to the Mediterranean microclimate of Epanomi in northern Greece. The vines are cultivated using respectful agriculture and once the grapes reach the winery, they are cold macerated with the skins for a few hours. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at 18°C and the wine remains in contact with its lees for a few months.
So, Gerovassiliou Rosé is the first and most prized rosé from the range of wines made by Vangelis each vintage. An original Xinomavro full of exoticism and vitality.
2020 |
Gerovassiliou Rosé 2020 is a fresh pale pink rosé wine with intense aromas of tropical fruits and red berries, notes of sweet spices and floral hints in the background. On the palate it is lively, fresh and very expressive. A wine with good structure, marked acidity and a long aftertaste. |
