About Ferraton La Tournée Blanc
The Spanish philosopher and writer Miguel de Unamuno is credited with saying “progress involves renewal”, a phrase that led to people saying “renew or die”. This phrase highlights the healthy need to make changes in order to move with the times. At Maison Ferraton Père & Fils , not only have they managed this, but they’ve also managed to remain faithful to the heritage of a family tradition at the same time. The man behind this transformation is Michel Ferraton, son of the founder Jean Orëns Ferraton, who in 1998, when he took on the winemaking project, followed the advice of prestigious winemaker Michel Chapoutier and began to work according to the rules of biodynamic viticulture.
This is how he launched his Plot Selections collection, one of which is Ferraton La Tournée Blanc, a white wine made from the Vermentino and Terret Blanc varieties from vineyards planted on limestone clay slopes in the Languedoc areas of Herault and Gard (France). The grapes are harvested at night to protect them from oxidation and preserve their freshness. In the winery, they are directly pressed without maceration, fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts and finally the wine ages in stainless steel tanks with fine lees for a period of time to develop complexity.
Ferraton La Tournée Blanc is a true reflection of the soils and great value for money, the perfect introduction to two little-known varieties like Terrer Blanc and Vermentino. This wine is as charming as it is rare. A great example of how often, “to renew is to improve”.
