About Draga Pinot Grigio Collio
Draga Pinot Grigio Collio is a white wine aged on lees made with the Pinot Grigio variety by Draga in the DOC Collio, in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, Italy.
Founded in 1992 by Anna and Milán, Draga is a small project acquired by the family at the end of the 19th century in the far eastern corner of Northern Italy. It is now run by their son Mitja and, over the years, he has modernised the winery with environmentally friendly systems, making original wines that authentically express the area.
Draga Pinot Grigio Collio comes from vines planted on steep slopes in mountainous soils with layers of clay marl and sandstone known locally as ‘ponca’. The vines are cultivated using traditional agriculture with limited yields and the harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness, with the grapes selected by hand.
In the winery, the Draga Pinot Grigio Collio grapes are destemmed, gently pressed and macerated in contact with the skins for 24 hours. After being pressed, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16 to 18 degrees. Finally, the wine remains in contact with the lees for 7 months in stainless steel tanks.
With a slightly coppery natural colour from the short maceration process, Draga Pinot Grigio Collio is a fresh, savoury and balanced white wine.
2019 | Draga Pinot Grigio Collio 2019 is an aromatic white wine with an intense fruity and floral bouquet and with hints of dry hay. On the palate it is fresh, persistent and balanced. A mineral wine, with marked acidity and a delicious final taste of toasted almonds. |
