Domaine Tempier Cuvée Classique Rouge is a biodynamic red wine made by Domaine Tempier with the Monastrell, Garnacha Tinta, Cinsault, Syrah and Carignan varieties in AOC Bandol, in Provence (France).
Domaine Tempier is one of the most prestigious wineries in Bandol (Provence). Winemakers since the time of Louis XV, by 1885 their wines had already been awarded gold medals in competitions. In recent times, the winery has stood out for Lucien Peyroud's commitment to the Monastrell, Cinsault and Garnacha varieties and then his son Jean-Marie’s single-plot vinification.
Domaine Tempier Cuvée Classique Rouge comes from grapes of various varieties. The vines have an average age of 35 to 40 years old and they are planted in calcareous clay soils. Biodynamic agriculture is used without any chemical herbicides or fungicides and the yields are limited to 35/38 hl/ha. The harvest is carried out manually and the grapes are selected taking into account the lunar phases.
In the winery, the Domaine Tempier Cuvée Classique Rouge grapes are destemmed, crushed and placed in concrete vats for 3 to 4 weeks to ferment spontaneously with native yeasts. The wine is then aged for 20 months in French oak barrels. The wine is finally bottled without refining or filtering.
Domaine Tempier Cuvée Classique Rouge combines the strength of Bandol with the elegance that characterises this winery. A classic cuvée in homage to family tradition.
