About Delaire Graff Botmaskop
Each year The World’s Best Vineyards is proud to reveal the 50 most incredible wine tourism experiences from around the world. Places with spectacular landscapes, facilities and wines, making a visit something you won’t forget in a hurry. Of all the locations, Delaire Graff, one of the very best, has won the award. This winery lies on the slopes of Botmaskop Mountain in the Coastal Region, South Africa’s most prominent wine region, and has become one of the most prestigious in the world. This is because it is a paradise for art, hospitality and food, as well as having unique terroirs that are perfect for creating wines of infinite elegance.
With 20 hectares of vineyards located between the Atlantic sea and Botmaskop (D.O. Stellenbosch), this prestigious winery produces delicious blends with noble varieties from the Old World. Their Delaire Graff Botmaskop wine, made as a tribute to the influence this mountain has on the vineyards, is made from Cabernet Sauvignon vines accompanied by small amounts of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec. Thanks to the sea breeze, these vines are guaranteed a rich fruity intensity and, so that they do not lose any of their characteristics, they are harvested first thing in the morning. In the winery, the grapes are thoroughly selected and destemmed. They are then fermented whole to ensure a gentle extraction of the fruit flavours. Finally, the wine ages in new French oak barrels for 16 months, where malolactic fermentation takes place.
A very good representation of the classic style of the Stellenbosch denomination, Delaire Graff Botmaskop is a red wine with great structure and soft, elegant tannins. A coupage from one of the South African wineries that is most proud to make itself known all around the world.
