Château Grange Cochard Côte du Py 2020 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of ripe black fruit accompanied by earthy notes. The palate is deep, mature and powerful. A full-bodied red wine with vibrant, precise acidity, firm tannins and great length. It should age brilliantly.
When Jean-Philippe Manchès, a lover from Beaujolais (southern Burgundy), discovered Château Grange Cochard, it was love at first sight. This mansion dating from 1759 has one of the most incredible terroirs of the AOC Morgon. So without thinking twice,he set to work producing powerful and elegant wines.
Within this wonderful 8 hectare estate, they have exceptional plots of old vines planted on the best volcanic rock and schist soils. This is the origin of their flagship wine, Château Grange Cochard Côte du Py. This is a single-variety Gamay made from vines that are respectfully cultivated by hand and without any insecticides, irrigation or artificial watering systems. The grapes are harvested by hand in small 18-20 kg bins and, once they reach the winery, they undergo a traditional semi-carbonic maceration with a third of the clusters whole and the rest destemmed. The wine is then aged in barrels for 11 months. Finally, it is bottled with the minimum sulphur needed for conservation.
If you love with the fruitiness and elegance of Beaujolais, you will love Château Grange Cochard Côte du Py. A red wine from one of the most exceptional soils of Morgon that you will love as soon as you taste.
