Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial Blanco 1986 is a white wine with incredible fruity aromas of baked pineapple, dried apples and hints of citrus accompanied by floral and almond notes as well. The palate is full, creamy and tight. A wine with wonderful acidity and impressive depth and beauty. The finish is crisp, elegant and mineral. Really quite something.
Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial Blanco 1986 is a white wine made by Marqués de Murrieta in Rioja. A gem made in the classic style, mainly with Viura and 5% Malvasía. It rests for 21 years in the barrel where the wine keeps refining, and then 67 months in cement tanks to gain volume.
A great wine, ready to be aged enviably in the bottle and with many years ahead of it, much like the white wines that used to be made in the winery. Two prestigious critics have awarded it the best points: Parker with 100 points, and Tim Atkin with 98. This has immediately raised Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial Blanco 1986 to the Olympus of great dry white wines made in Spain.
