About Bouza Tannat B6 Parcela Única

Uruguay enjoys an exceptional geographical location. And that is why, in recent times, many Uruguayan wineries have enjoyed success all around the world. As in other New World countries like Argentina, Chile, Australia and New Zealand, the wine region lies between the 30th and 35th parallel South and its temperate climate and clay soil, often reminiscent of French regions, has wonderfully welcomed native varieties from the Old World. The southern area, known as Canelones, in the Metropolitan area near Montevideo, is home to the Bouza family winery and their vineyards. With a clear objective from the beginning of creating nothing but the highest quality, they make elegant and very balanced wines with Albariño, Chardonnay, Merlot, Tempranillo and Tannat grapes.

The latter variety, the Tannat, is the country’s most emblematic grape, and Bouza Tannat A6 Parcela Única is a single-variety wine made from a single plot located in Las Violetas, in the Canelones department. These Tannat vines were planted between 1977 and 2010 on a clay loam soil with a high percentage of limestone. With a distance of 35 km from the sea, they enjoy great temperature variations and are cultivated in a respectful way without using products that could harm the environment. Once the grapes are ripe, they are harvested by hand berry by berry and taken to the winery. They undergo controlled fermentation at 26ºC in oak vats with two pump-overs and one pigeage per day. The total maceration time is 10 days and then the wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. Finally, it is bottled unfiltered to preserve its full potential.
                                                                              
Based on the premise that working on a small scale always offers better results, Bouza Tannat A6 Parcela Única is the result of a variety and a plot that represent the general characteristics of an outstanding vintage. Aromatic intensity and deep tannins in a very limited edition.

Bouza Tannat B6 Parcela Única 2018 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of ripe black fruit accompanied by sweet vanilla notes. On the palate it is rounded, flavoursome and well structured. A wine with balanced acidity, silky tannins and a lingering finish.
