Borgo Imperiale Prosecco

Prosecco Brut.
Borgo Imperiale Prosecco is a dry sparkling wine (less than 12 g/L of sugar). It boasts a straw-yellow hue, radiant with enduring effervescence. Exuberant and vivacious. On the nose, it is exceedingly refined and sophisticated, redolent with the characteristic fruity aromas of the grape variety. The palate experiences a fresh sensation, with delightfully pleasant acidity and a light, invigorating body.

About Borgo Imperiale Prosecco
Since 1921, the Decordi family has been crafting artisanal wines from their quaint winery in Solarolo Monasterolo, a village in the province of Cremona, Lombardy. What began as a modest production eventually evolved into a more significant venture that aimed to encapsulate the quintessence of Northern Italy. To this end, they initially chose to pay tribute to their region by naming their wines after the corvi (ravens in Italian), a bird typical of the area. However, as time passed and the symbolism became apparent, it was evident that this was not an auspicious choice, since ravens are commonly associated with omens of misfortune. Consequently, the family opted to rename their wines Borgo Imperiale.
After more than five decades of dedication, today, the family boasts a collection of 29 quintessential Northern Italian wines, among which the Borgo Imperiale Prosecco stands out—a dry sparkling wine produced within the D.O.C. Prosecco region. True to the denomination, the primary grape used is glera, an indigenous varietal that has always been fundamental to their wines. Hard work and perseverance have been the hallmark of this business, which traces its roots back to 1921 when Quirico Decordi managed a modest inn where he served glasses of his homemade wine. His passion and reputation grew, transforming the venture into one of the most prominent producers of the region's characteristic wines, now a benchmark in the industry.
Today, the Borgo Imperiale winery is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Only the finest grape clusters are processed, with meticulous attention to quality at every stage of production. The initial step is fermentation. During this process, where the wine develops much of its aroma profile, the duration is between 15 and 20 days at a maximum temperature of 18°C. For Prosecco Spumantes, a secondary natural fermentation is required, conducted according to the Italian method (also known as the Martinotti method). This step is carried out in autoclaves, large pressurized tanks, where the wine develops its signature effervescence. Finally, around day 30, the temperature is lowered to halt fermentation, resulting in Borgo Imperiale Prosecco being ready for bottling and serving as the finest tribute to Northern Italy.
