Tasting notes Benoît Ente Puligny-Montrachet 2020

White wine.

Benoît Ente Puligny-Montrachet 2020 is a serene, well-balanced, mineral white wine. On the nose, this wine starts with herbaceous touches that combine with flowers and hints of stone. White peach, quince and pear are also present. The palate is balanced and sensual, vibrant and dynamic, with white pepper, saffron and curry. Full-bodied and voluminous finish. Very intense. A work of art!

About Benoît Ente Puligny-Montrachet

Tremblots, Houlière, Meix Pelletier or Dernière La Velle are some of the lieux dits that can be tasted in Benoît Ente Puligny-Montrachet, a white wine combining up to seven different plots from the Puligny-Montrachet AOC, south of the Côte d'Or in Burgundy.

White marl and limestone soils blend with clay in this wine made by Benoît Ente, one of the most important representatives of the region. Nobody knows this corner of the heart of the Côte de Beaune like he does, where his family has been tending the vineyards for years. The first of these was his grandfather, who barely managed five hectares whose grapes he sold to other winemakers. It wasn't until the 1990s that Benoît Ente inherited part of this field, deciding to take the leap and learn about the world in which his brother, Arnaud Ente, was already successful. The apprenticeship went wonderfully and today Benoît Ente dazzles with his always elegant and refined creations.

Benoît Ente Puligny-Montrachet is grown in an environmentally- friendly way, without chemicals, always seeking practices that are least harmful to the ecosystem. This is a great effort, considering that Benoît Ente refuses to use any chemical products in his vineyards. In this way, everything is done manually, in an artisanal way. In particular, the key to Benoît Ente’s work lies in yields (where care is always taken to ensure that the plant produces few fruits with a good concentration) and in the ripening of the bunches (which is regularly monitored and controlled). As a rule, Benoît Ente is one of the first winegrowers in the area to harvest, and Benoît Ente Puligny-Montrachet was not to be outdone. This savoir faire is maintained in the cellar, where Benoît Ente maintains its elegance and relies on large, high volume oak barrels. Here Benoît Ente Puligny-Montrachet will spend a minimum of 18 months ageing.

Undoubtedly, the purest expression of the Puligny-Montrachet AOC.
