Barbeito 3 Years Dry is a fresh and light fortified wine, with notes of caramelised fruit, figs and sweets. It is round and balanced, with a soft and dry finish.
Barbeito 3 Years Dry is a Tinta Negra Mole variety dry fortified wine produced by the Vinhos Barbeito winery on the island of Madeira, Portugal.
Vinhos Barbeito is a family winery that was founded in 1964 by Mário Barbeito de Vasconcelos and is one of the most unique in Madeira. Since Barbeito's death, it has been run by his daughter Manuela Vasconcelos, who carries the legacy of her father by strengthening the relations of the winery with its customers and ensuring that their products are known internationally.
Barbeito 3 Years Dry is made from strains that come from several high quality vineyards located in the strait of Câmara de Lobos and São Vicente. When the grapes reach the winery, they are pneumatically pressed to get the must. Must fermentation is stopped by adding 96% wine alcohol. They then use the process known as “Estufagem”, which is typical of Madeira. This involves “heating” the emerging wine to give it a unique character. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for three years before being bottled.
