About Bàrbara Forés El Quintà
Bárbara Forés El Quintà is a white wine produced by the winery Bárbara Forés in Gandesa (Tarragona), D.O. Terra Alta.
Bárbara Forés is a family-run winery that dates back to the late 19th century, when Rafael Ferrer Forés started to make wine. Currently, Carmen Ferrer and her husband, Manuel Sanmartín, are in charge of the winery.
Bárbara Forés has 22 hectares of vineyard. This allows them to combine altitude and orientation, the pains and the hills, the shade and the sun. Alongside cultivation with natural products and organic manure, they achieve a unique grape that adjusts to the requirements and characteristics of the different farms.
Bàrbara Forés El Quintà is a wine made from White Grenache from two small farms with different characteristics and orientations, with sandy soils and silica sediments. The vines from these farms are over 60 years old.
After the manual harvest, the grapes go through skin-contact maceration for 24 hours. The fermentation takes place in 500-litre French oak barrels. This wine is aged for 6 months in the same barrels with its lees.
Bàrbara Forés El Quintà is a mature, intense and elegant wine. The aroma of ripe white fruit stands out, with flowery notes on a roasted background. In the mouth, it is fatty, lingering and dry.
The name El Quintà refers to how they call the small farms cultivated by the same owner in this area of Tarragona.
2008 | This white wine from Terra Alta has a nice attack and a soft, warm and untuous mid palate. The notes of fruit and wood are very well balanced. Good acidity that provides the freshness needed for the contrast of aromas. Long finish with a touch of bitterness and notes of nuts and toasted. Delicate straw yellow colour with golden reflections. Clean and bright. Good tears. Wine with an average intensity. Its intense notes of ripe white fruit are released along with several honeyed floral and tropical aromas. It shows some harmonious and balanced balsamic and roasted aromas also. |

2007 | Mouth dry, well assembled by fruit wood. Yellow gold with old gold highlights. Potent aroma, rich in nuances of dried herbs from the mountain, and lactic smoky background oak, sweet spices, fine and tropical notes. |
