About Ar.Pe.Pe. Sassella Riserva Rocce Rosse
Ar.Pe.Pe. Sassella Riserva Rocce Rosse is a barrel-aged red wine made with the Nebbiolo variety in Lombardia (Italy) by Ar.Pe.Pe.
Founded in 1984 by Arturo Pellizzatti Perego in the heart of Valtellina, Ar.Pe.Pe. is now run by the founder’s three children Isabella, Guido and Emanuele Pellizzati Perego. Their wines are made on three principles: holding onto tradition, understanding the area and making use of new technology. This results in true oenological gems that are enjoyed both at home and abroad.
Ar.Pe.Pe. Sassella Riserva Rocce Rosse comes from a single plot of fifty-year-old vineyards planted on red granite near the top of the Sassella cru almost 500 metres above sea level. It is a difficult slope to access, with impermeable and rocky soils. The team use environmentally friendly agriculture and all their work is manual.
Once the Ar.Pe.Pe. Sassella Riserva Rocce Rosse grapes reach the winery, they follow a traditional winemaking process. Firstly, they macerate on skins for 40 days in stainless steel tanks. The wine then ages for 48 months in large chestnut barrels and finally spends 12 months in cement tanks.
Ar.Pe.Pe. Sassella Riserva Rocce Rosse is, without doubt, an authentic expression of the Valladolid region. A fine, elegant and persistent red.
2013 | Ar.Pe.Pe. Sassella Riserva Rocce Rosse is a smooth red wine with aromas of ripe black fruit, delicate spicy notes and subtle hints of leather. On the palate it is elegant, dry and broad. A wine that reveals fine tannins, an integrated acidity and a very pleasant long persistence. |
