About Alto Moncayo Aquilón
Aquilón is a red wine from the Campo de Borja D.O region, produced by the Alto Moncayo winery. This wine is made using solely Garnacha (100%) grapes.
The grapes used to make Aquilón from 30 hectares of vineyards growing on soil that is stony and poor in organic matter. This results in little production in grapes, however the quality is extremely high.
The Garnacha grapes used to make Aquilón come from vines which are aged between 60-100 years old. These vineyards are found on the slopes of Moncayo Massif.
The process of vinification and production follows traditional methods. In order to allow the character of the Garnacha grapes to flourish, Aquilón ages for 24 months in the wineries best oak barrels.
This wine is made under the technical direction of renowned Australian winemaker Chris Ringland, with the project being promoted by Jorge Ordóñez.
