Alto Moncayo Veraton is a red wine produced in the Campo de Borja by Bodegas Alto Moncayo. The Alto Moncayo winery rose to international fame when its wine Alto Moncayo coveted Parker 100 points for two different vintages.
Alto Moncayo Veraton is a varietal made from Grenache grapes, a variety which reigns in the Campo de Borja.
The grapes come from wonderful old vines, aged between 30 and 50 years old, planted at an altitude of between 500 and 800 metres.
The vineyards are located at the foot of Moncayo, a mountain of 2,315 metres. In winter there is an Atlantic influence, resulting in very cold winters and with a Mediterranean influence, very hot summers.
In addition, there are large temperature differences between day and night, a very favourable contrast that helps to obtain a perfect ripening of the grapes. The vines are planted on stony soils, containing limestone, quartzite and slate. These soils are very permeable and filter the water to the deeper layers of clay. The old vineyards, together with a harsh climate and poor soils, results in a low yield, but with quality grapes.
Alto Moncayo Veraton is pure expression of Grenache, refined by aging in French oak barrels for 16 months.
An excellent wine from Campo de Borja.
It is a dark cherry red color with violet hues. Clean and bright.

Alto Moncayo they have discovered the extraordinary possibilities of one of their historical grapes in the area of Campo de Borja: the Red Grenache or Garnacha Tinta, one of the most Hispanic varieties, where some of the wines from this winery already have a place of honour in the national and international wine ranking. If there is a nuance that defines the wines of Alto Moncayo, this is their unique balance without losing intensity, with their clear fruit-laden aromas, and their energy and personality.
