About Alma Atlántica Albariño

Although Martín Códax was an enigmatic and unknown medieval minstrel, his work is among the most famous in Galician-Portuguese lyric poetry. The author of the seven cantigas de amigo (friend’s song), seven poems found on a parchment by an antique book dealer named Pedro Vindel, his traditional compositions set to music, stand out especially for their references to the sea and their erotic symbolism as a place of encounter with a lover. He was unconventional at the time and like many other minstrels, he certainly livened up the pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela with his songs. In honour of this representative figure of the purest Vigo tradition, we find the Martín Códax winery, one of the winemaking projects with the largest production volume in the Salnés region, D.O. Rías Baixas. An ode to the origins that guards the essence of the Atlantic sea.

This is clear to see in Alma Atlántica Albariño, a sparkling wine made from the native Albariño variety, where the must is partially fermented in isobaric tanks naturally creating fine bubbles. This results in a sparkling wine with an alcohol volume of 7% and a sweetness that balances the acidity of the varieties. An easy and fun toast with a marked Atlantic character and an unconventional soul.
