About Allegrini Valpolicella Classico
Hemingway said that it was "light, fresh, red and friendly, like the house of a brother you get along very well with”. There are things that don’t change over time. And Allegrini Valpolicella Classico is one of them.
This red wine, produced by the Allegrini winery in northern Italy, remains a classic that has stood the test of time. Tastes and market trends can always vary, but Allegrini Valpolicella Classico is a wine that is always popular and always the right choice.
Allegrini Valpolicella Classico is protected under the DOC Valpolicella Classico, a label that ensures and guarantees that it complies with one of the four types of winemaking in the Valpolicella region, in the province of Veneto. Unlike Amarone, Recioto and Ripasso (where dried and raisined grapes are used), Allegrini Valpolicella Classico uses a much simpler vinification process, starting with fresh grapes grown in the Classica zone (the most renowned and famous). After harvesting, some of the grapes (those destined for Amarone, Recioto and Ripaso) are taken directly to the dryers; the rest, which will be used to make Valpolicella Classico, is taken to the winery, where they are pressed and fermented a few days after harvesting. At first glance it might seem that this difference is down to strict quality controls, but nothing could be further from the truth: the distinction is simply made by working out which grapes will best withstand the four months of apassimento (the Italian name for the drying of the grapes).
Allegrini Valpolicella Classico is signed by Allegrini, one of the area’s leading producers who have been making wine since the 16th century. Great connoisseurs of tradition, this family remains one of the guardians of these traditional vinifications, ensuring that these small treasures are accessible, reaching all corners of the world (at reasonable prices).
Finally, after fermentation, the wine is left to settle for a few days in steel tanks. After this, Allegrini Valpolicella Classico is bottled and released directly for sale.
The result is a simple and honest wine, like Allegrini Valpolicella Classico. Easy to understand and perfect for enjoying without thinking too much about it; to feel as comfortable as you would in the house of a brother “you get along very well with”.
