Characteristics Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage
Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage is a Syrah red wine from the AOC Crozes-Hermitage produced by Domaine Alain Graillot.
Alain Graillot is considered one of the most talented producers in the Rhône. It has managed to build this fame in just 20 years, and in a denomination that had been depreciated by many experts until recently. His winery is located in Pont de l'Isère, in the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, near Train-Hermitage, and is sited in the middle of the vineyards in an old converted farm.
The vineyard for Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage covers 17.5 hectares with rocky soil, gravel and sand, and lies between the rivers Isère and Rhône. The vines are on average 30 years old.
Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage macerates in cold with the skins for 2-5 days and then ferments at a controlled temperature and macerates for a long time with the skins in cement tanks - between 15 and 21 days. Once fermented, the wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels, 10% of which are new, and in demi-muits, large 600 litre barrels. It is filtered slightly before bottling but is not clarified.
Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage expresses explosive black fruit mixed with spices, all backed by a good acidity and firm tannins.
Real reviews from customers who have purchased this product
Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage 2017 has a dark ruby colour and on the nose it reveals blackberries, bigarreau cherries, and flavours of clove, pepper and violets. It is an elegant and delicate wine with a medium body and a nice fresh finish.
